Kent State Piano Institute scholars
On Thursday, July 23, 2009 at 7:30 PM, Laurel Lake Retirement Community will host a festival performance by gifted young pianists from all over the country, participants of the 3rd Annual Piano Institute at Kent State. The concert is free and open to the public.
Sponsored by The Piano Division at Kent State University’s Hugh A. Glauser School of Music, the July 19 - 29 Piano Institute at Kent State is a highly intensive festival for talented piano students in grades 7-12, offering a unique combination of lessons, master classes and performance opportunities. Students from all over the nation will converge on the campus of Kent State University for 11 days of inspiration, learning and application.
The Laurel Lake Foundation is again sponsoring the 2009 Piano Institute with a $3,000 grant to support tuition and transportation costs for students, as well as the rental of Steinway pianos needed for the workshop. The July 23rd performance before an appreciative Laurel Lake audience is an important part of the students' preparation for their July 28th gala concert at Severance Hall's Reinberger Chamber Hall.
