Policy analyst Peter Doran to speak on        "The Big Triangle: Russia, EU and the US"

March 4, 2011 -- On Tuesday, March 15 at 1:00 PM, Laurel Lake and University Circle will present a special distance learning program with guest speaker Peter B. Doran, Senior Policy Analyst at the Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA) in Washington D.C.

Doran will speak on The Big Triangle: Russia, EU and the US via live videoconference and take questions from the audience. The program is free and open to the public at 200 Laurel Lake Drive in Hudson. To register, please call 1-866-650-2100.

Join this discussion of the current geopolitics of energy and security relations between the United States, Europe and Russia. At CEPA, Mr. Doran has helped to develop the institute's profile and mission as Washington’s only institute dedicated to the study of the former captive nations of the European Union. He has served as the Managing Editor of Central Europe Digest, Washington’s only Central Europe-focused analytical periodical. 

 

He has written extensively on the dynamics of oil and gas, energy security and global politics, contributing articles for The Guardian, Foreign Policy, the Journal of Energy Security and World Politics Review. Previously, he worked at the Jamestown Foundation and at Freedom House as an East-Central Europe Analyst for Freedom in the World.

 

He has also served as a Foreign Affairs Fellow in the U.S. Congress and as a William H.Donner Fellow at the Organization of American States. He holds a master's degree from Georgetown University's Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service in the Center for Eurasian, Russian, and East European Studies. He received undergraduate degrees from Arizona State University's Barrett Honors College in History and Russian language.
